AI Integration in First-Year Experience: Building Foundations for Digital Citizenship at Guttman 

First-year students at Guttman Community College arrive with varying AI competencies and, in particular, lack structured guidance on ethical generative AI use in academic settings. Without proper introduction to responsible AI practices during this transition to college, students develop problematic habits that undermine academic integrity and miss opportunities to learn and to develop their voice. 

To thoughtfully integrate generative AI tools into the curriculum in ways that enhance teaching pedagogy and advance their discipline, GCC faculty formed a learning community during the 2025-26 academic year to revise an FYE course to introduce and integrate ethical AI use to students. This site collects those revised assignments, AI Tools, and resources so that they may be replicated or adapted for ethical AI instruction on other college campuses.
